1950’s Surf Shack — Exterior Repaint & Restoration in Lennox Heads
You read that right — a genuine 1950’s surf shack. And honestly, it’s every bit as good as you’re imagining.
Owned by a long-standing Lennox Heads family, the shack is believed to be one of the earliest homes in the area. Full of character, a bit weather-worn, and completely iconic, the kind of place you can’t help but love.
The project came to us through a referral from another job on the same street. The brief was simple: a full exterior repaint and restoration, colour-matched to stay true to the original look while giving the shack a fresh start after seven decades of sun, salt air and coastal weather.
And yep - the prep was a complete mission. The ocean-facing weatherboards needed serious attention, and Lennox winds aren’t at all forgiving. But with patience, proper surface repair, and the right equipment, we got everything back to a solid, paint-ready base.
While a Graco sprayer would have sped things up, most of the shack called for traditional brushwork. Slower, more detailed, but absolutely the right approach for a home like this - and we wouldn’t do it any other way.
The owners were interstate during the project, so we kept them updated with progress photos and Zoom calls. When they saw the finished result, they were blown away. That’s the best part of the job every single time.
Whether you’ve got an original surf shack, a weathered coastal home, or an exterior that’s ready for a new lease on life, we’re always keen for a chat.
